Hi! I'm Allison, a life-long New Yorker, mother, and toy store proprietress.
In 2014, when my son was 3 years old, I opened Teich Toys & Books on Hudson St in the West Village, NYC. As a parent and an experienced retailer, I felt my neighborhood could use a curated children's toy store. For 6 years we enjoyed being the go-to shop for the best games, toys, puzzles and more. Not only did we serve the families of our community, but we enjoyed visitors from all over the world.
In the summer of 2020, like so many other small businesses around New York City, we were forced to permanently close our doors. With many neighborhood families waiting things out in remote locales, tourists not returning for a while, plus concerns for the safety of our staff and customers, we could no longer continue as a brick and mortar store. It was a heartbreaking experience, but I am grateful for the time we had there, and humbled by the outpouring of support I have received from our wonderful customers and community members.
My family and I have moved to the Green Mountains of Vermont where we have settled into our new community and are enjoying all the natural beauty and outdoor adventures that the region has to offer. I have decided to continue Teich Toys online and have created limited edition, curated gift boxes based upon my many years helping people finding truly special gifts for the children in their lives.
I hope you'll take a look through and perhaps see something you'd like to buy for someone. I offer free gift wrap, and flat rate $10 shipping (free for orders over $150).
Oh, and if you happen to be in Southern Vermont, please visit my new shop Happy Bat Toys.
Thanks for supporting small business!
